Leader John W. The Club’s annual ride to Cambridge saw eleven riders set out on a fine Sunday morning heading via High Elms Lane to Whempstead and Dane End and on to Puckeridge, before proceeding over the old railway line at Braughing and continuing on very rural lanes to Stocking and Brent Pelham with a short refreshment stop at Langley Lower Green, where some photos were taken.

Refreshed, comfortable progress was made through Duddenhoe End and Pond Street before the long climb up to Elmdon, followed by a seriously undulating route culminating in a one and a half mile exciting downhill dash to Ickleton.

A leisurely lunch was enjoyed at “The Lion” sitting in the sunshine, after which, slowly at first, the ride proceeded into Cambridge over the flat Fenland route via Duxford, Whittlesford and Little Shelford and then, taking the cycle way into Cambridge, avoiding busy roads this year, by using a new route utilising the track alongside the “Guided Bus Route”, absolutely traffic free.
