Leader and tail end Charlie Steve Wheeler. C2C training ride concentrating on the climbing of local hills. The next one will be more concentrated on descending, although you will still have to climb the same hills as this ride before enjoying the downs.

Two hardy members turned up to tell me they were off on a ride of their own and not joining me in the pain and suffering I had planned, even the wind obliged in gusting to 40mph and always managing to be head or side giving no respite from it. Perfect training conditions.

So a lone rider set off for 37 miles and 2000 feet of climbing. I will not bore you with the details just leave it as a surprise for the next instalment. I will say I learnt a lot from this ride, The roads are filthy, the potholes are bigger, the gravel is deeper and the roads still flood at the top of hills. Oh and I have no level of fitness, 37 miles feeling like 370 miles. But I loved it, every foot climbed every mile in to a head wind and the new roads I used. See you all next Sunday for more of the same?
