Leader Trevor. Fourteen Watton Wheelers started from Broxbourne to travel along the tow path to St Katherine’s dock. Joe and Pat and their grandson James started from Pickets Lock and met us at St Katherine’s.

Three punctures at the beginning of the ride slowed us down but after refreshments at Pistachios cafe en route, the journey continued coming off the tow path at the Lime House Cut and working our way down to the Lime House Basin passed the Prospect of Whitby and Shadwell Basin, then along the Thames Path and Wapping High Street finally arriving at the dock in time for two o’clock lunch at the Dickens Inn. Joe and Pat also had two punctures!

We returned home via the Lime House basin entering the Regents/ Grand Union Canal path to Victoria Park where we rejoined the river Lee Navigation. Another stop at Pistachios for tea and ice creams and then back to Broxbourne by 7pm. A lovely hot and sunny day enjoyed by all.

Approximate distance 40 miles.
